Intrinsic motivation: internal desire to do something (interest, challenge, personal satisfaction) Extrinsic motivation: from outside (pay, bonuses, tangible rewards) Frameworks maslow: hierarchy each one comes more dominant as previous is satisfied. Base is all extrinsic and as those become satisfied, things become more intrinsic. Intrinsic factors lead to high satisfaction: (motivating factors) start off with neutral, if you get motivating factors, you will be happy. Extrinsic factors lead to high dissatisfaction: (hygiene factors) if you get them you"ll be neutral, but if you don"t get them you"ll be unhappy. Job enrichment: need for power, need for affiliation. Make sure their work is mostly teamwork. Your motivation to do anything is a product of three variables. If one is close to zero, overall motivation will also be close to zero.
