Granulocytes: short life span as a 1st active defense. 3-6 lobes nucleus, pmns, granules with some hydrolytic enzymes & defensins for drilling (cid:271)a(cid:272)teria"s, substances for invadors . 2 lobes nucleus granules have variety of digestive enzymes-> >gives the allergic symtoms & acute allergic reaction. Few in blood vessels, mostly in lymphoid tissue. T lymphocytes: for virus infection, tumor cells with specific cytotoxic attack. B lymphocytes: plasma cells for making specific antibodies. Natural killer cells: act directly against virus infected cells+tumor cells non specific. Monocytes life is several months(go to macrophage in damaged part) Mediate (cid:271)ody"s defe(cid:374)(cid:272)es against virus, some bacteria, chronic infections. Part of specific & non specific immune response. Leukocytes: protection of body from bacteria, viruses, parasites, toxins, tumor cells. Leave blood by diapedesis(path for wbc by tight fit with vessel/tissue) for immune, inflammatory response. Can move with amoeboid motion with positive chemotaxis(movement of cells toward/away from a chemical substance)
