Prokaryotes - transcription and translation reactions occur in the same cellular. Prokaryotes can do this but not eukaryotes bc transcription and translation occurs in different areas of cell. Regulated by rna pol with sigma subunit for promoter recognition and. Regulation of trancription - step of initiation increase affinity for promoter seq. Strongest promoter - promeoter with higherst rate of inititaion is tat box at - 10 and - 35: distance between 2 boxes is impt and intimate high rate, when rna pol binds to promoter it changes its conformation under the influence of accessory proteins (activators and repressors) to modulate initiation.
