Circadian rhythm: body clock, biological clock, 24 hour cycle of particular physiological processes: body temperature lower when asleep, melatonin makes you sleepy, peeks in the evening. Altered by light to reset clock: suprachiasmatic nucleus. Lost of consciousness, 5 stages: stage 1: brain waves slow, hypnagogic sensations, brief dreams with no narrative, hallucinations. Very brief and 5 10mins: stage 2: brain waves get slower. Deeper than stage 1, harder to wake up.
