Two treatment protocols for ptsd prolonged exposure (pe) and cognitive processing therapy. Family history: heritability is as high as . 85 for bipolar disorder, relatives of people with mdd no elevated risk for mania, relatives of people with bd elevated risk for mania and depression. Twin study heritability for mdd and bd are related but distinct. If id twin has major depressive disorder, my chance of getting it is ~45%; if my twin has bd, my chance of getting mdd is ~25% (see graph on s5) If id twin has mdd, my chance of getting bd is almost none. All mood disorders: concordance rate for id twins is 2-3x higher than for fraternal twins. Mdd more likely if twin has mdd of bd (@ diff concordance rates) Of id twins concordant for a mood disorder, 80% have same polarity! Genetics form about 40% of overall cause for mdd (less for men)
