Words, numbers, pictures, colours, gestures, facial expressions, etc. Winking can show interest, an understanding, a joke, etc. Being an outsider gives an inability to recognize a cultures symbols, making you feel lost in society. An insider would not have trouble understanding their society and their symbols. Keystone to human culture, major means of cultural transmission. Shapes how we think, perceive, and experience the world. Know the world only in the terms of the language we speak. Collecive ideas about what is wrong, good or bad, and desirable or undesirable.
