MGHB12H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Abundant Number, Task Analysis, Job Performance
Document Summary
Training any effort initiated by an organization to foster learning among its member. Research shows that an organization"s revenues and overall profitability are positively correlated to the amount of training it gives its employees. Four times the amount spent on training is spent on informal instruction. Training given employees range from simple, on-the-job instruction to sophisticated skills training conducted on multimillion-dollar simulators. Goal of training is to contribute to the organization"s overall goals. Most important goal is to improve organizational performance, followed by the development of leaders and aligning business and learning objectives. Not all of a firm"s strategic initiatives can be accomplished with training, and not all training programs will be a strategic imperative for a firm. To ensure that a firm"s training and development investment has the maximum impact possible, a strategic approach should be used that involve four phases: needs assessment, program design, implementation, evaluation.
