MGMD10H3 Lecture 3: Week 3 Time Summary
Document Summary
Temporal construal written by y. trope and n. liberman examines the concept of the construal theory, and through temporal changes, how it affects evaluation, prediction, and choice. This paper contributes many key findings and proposes several psychological theories to help develop our understanding of how the human mind, behavior, and tendencies work. While this article digs deep into the concept of how the time perspective in and itself changes one"s response to certain events, it primarily focuses on the attractiveness of events in a temporal distance for future events. Thus, what this article also contributes is a basis for a number of future research opportunities including the construal theory conjoint with other types of distances (ie: spatial and social). One of the studies conducted by liberman and troope involve the choice of several assignments for their social psychology course. The students were informed that they would have 1 week to work on an assignment (reading material and essay questions).
