Cultural psychology is a relatively new area. Early 90s, pple started talking about culture from a psychological perspective, even though culture affects everything we do. An everchanging constructive stimulus which shapes the way individuals perceive the world. (the lens through which we view the world) 1) dynamic; it"s constantly shifting & changing. 2) influenced by members of the culture. 3) influences members of the culture: moreover, culture has an effect on you & you have an influence on your culture, think about how culture has changed overtime from generation to generation. So how much you feel you identify w/ your culture, determines how much that culture affects you & you interact w/ that culture. Psychologists like to talk about culture as a meaning system: meaning system, culture is a combo of symbols, languages & experiences that are shared as a whole by the culture.
