PSYC18H3 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Space Bar, Tachycardia, Regression Analysis
Document Summary
The role emotion plays in one vs the other. If you were in an intimate relationship with someone, you"re going to share things with them that you wouldn"t share with a friend, for example. Caring is motivated by the social drive we have to connect with people. Interdependence where you really care about what they think about you and you have an impact on each other. Mutuality: not a separation of two personalities but merging identities. Trust: etiquette as in seeming polite and cultured but in intimate relationships, there"s no need for that since they know us well. Commitment: commitment over a course of time so making investments with ta person kowing they"re not going to leave. Playfulness: study shows if they"re arguing and can take the seriousness out of it and tease each other; they"ll have more peaceful exchanges and will be happier in their marriage.
