Bill c-250 was extended in 2005 to include protection of sexual minority groups like lesbians, gays, bisexual and transgendered. Gender identity: the gender that a person feels him or herself to be. Sometimes gender identity is concordant (in agreement) with one"s assigned sex at birth and sometimes one"s gender identity is more fluid or can be. Gender expression: how we express our gender (as masculine, feminine, tomboys or androgynous, as butch, straight, etc). Sexual orientation: the identification of individuals as heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual based on their emotional and sexual attractions, relationships, self-identity and lifestyles. Transgendered individuals: persons who do not fit neatly into either the male or female category , or whose behavior is not congruent with the rules and expectations for their sex in the society in which they live.
