Document Summary

Nfkb controls the activation of soluble mediators of innate immunity. Cytokines are a molecule/soluble protein that are used in cellular communication and mediate inflammation. A class of cytokines in chemokines that induce chemotaxis recruiting cells to sites of infection. Cytokines are released by a cell and they bind to a cell that has cytokine receptors and induces biological effects. Autocrine effect: if the cytokines binds to the same cells. Cytokines kill the cells if they are no longer needed and change the behavior otherwise. Complements are activated through either alternative, classical or lectin pathway. In alternative pathway, complement is activated by the production of c3b. In classic pathway, the complement is activated by an antigen-antibody reaction. In a lectin pathway, the complement is activated by large number of lectin present in the microorganisms. Membrane attack complex or mac is when they create pores and burst the infected cells. Homeostatic: process that brings body back to normal.
