There are lots of different drugs that can fit int it, and the drugs move up and out of the cell. Its able to act on molecules in many different therapeutic areas. Its very hard to deretmine if your drug will be pumped out by pgp, because it can pump out so many things. At the same time we administer the cancer drug, we also administer the inhibitor drug, and the inhibitor can bind to and block the pump. This action increases the concentration of our drug inside the cell. But we also increase the concentration of other drugs inside the cell. The cancer cells can evolve these channels to kick out the drugs. Top left; there are much higher levels in the animals without the pump. Bottom left; when theres the drug with the pgp inhibitor, more drug stays in the tumor cell. D; when the drug + pgp inhibitor was given, the tumors shrunk the most.
