Document Summary

Focused on the repression of female sexuality. The crown of eternal life is as immodest as it gets. Science as the opposite of the ascetic ideal: But at the heart of science is the understanding of the fallibility of science. By their nature, belief aims at truth. So it makes no sense to not believe in truth. What he means is that one cannot act without taking for granted certain presuppositions. Absolute freedom should allow one to be free from truth. Belief in truth is a metaphysical dogma, that itself derives from the ascetic ideal. In order to investigate scienti cally, one must take quite a bit for granted (the question makes sense, the outcome will be relevant, etc. ) Logically impossible to have an explanation for everything. If all is below the line (explanandum), there"s nothing left above (explanans) Justifying every move of science would involve in nite regression of presuppositions. In recognition of it"s own fallibility, science humbles itself.
