Summary: the most important conflicts of the future will occur along the imagined boundaries that separates the major civilizations from one another. This will happen because of: differences among civilizations are not only real; they are basic . Civilizations differ in their history, language, culture, tradition and, most importantly, religion. On the one hand, the west is at a peak of power. It is more difficult to be half catholic and half muslim than to be half french and half arab: economic regionalism is increasing on the one hand, successful economic regionalism will reinforce civilization consciousness.
