Document Summary
Acquired immunity: slower, specific because you need to build up to a specific antigen. Help you mount a specific immune response against a particular bacteria. Specificity activated by and responds to a specific antigen. Versatility ready to confront any antigen at anytime. Even its something novel, never exposed before, you;ll stipp be able to respond. Memory remembers any antigen it has encountered. Be tolerance to our own protein in our body. Tolerance responds to foreign substances but ignores normal tissues. Antigens: causes an immune response, the are usually different from the host cell protein. Antibody: things that we make, they recognize specific antigens. Both b and t cells have receptors that recognize specific shapes, not all shapes. Different b and t cells have different receptors. Some activated b and t cells are long lasting. B and t cells with receptors that recognize self are deleted or not activated.
