Document Summary

People remember information they generate better than information that they hear or read. For example, david gave us a list of words to try and remember but since he created the list, he has a better chance at remembering the list than we do. But if we were to generate our own list or generate some sort of link to connect each item in the list, we would have a good chance at remembering more items. Generating images helps, because you"re using two different codes. For example, when you read it is generally an auditory code but you can also use a visual code by generating images in your head. This is good because when you try to recall that info, you now have access to two types of code (auditory and your generated visual code). In the same vein, the more bizarre you generate those images (or generate those links) the better the retrieval.
