Document Summary

From previous lecture: complex information receives organizational bene ts when given a simple structure beforehand. Receiving that simple structure after the fact doesn"t bene t organization of the complex information. Tq: craik and tulving talked about levels of processing. Found the deeper the processing, the better the recall. For writing a test: look for what he is testing, what concept he is trying to use. Found that you have a section of excitatory parts and a section of inhibitors. Less complex need more geons and the % error goes down substantially: so wouldn"t recognition of objects depend on which objects are shown. Example a beak and feet is less information than the beak and body. Perception depends on additional information: geons are bottom-up, but top-down processing always in uences object recognition. Top-down processes speed up processing and provide supporting information to degraded stimuli. Top-down processes can ll in the blanks and make processing more e cient.
