Document Summary

The text featured many metaphors describing the life of faith and below i will touch upon four. The first metaphor i will discuss illustrates philoxenus" comparison of the inability of a craft to question its craftsman to the inability of humans to question their creator, god. The significance of this metaphor outlines how living the life of faith does not include criticizing or questioning who made us, but rather believing and accepting his will. It is therefore necessary, and sufficient, for humans to respect the divine power who formed them. Humans do not posses the power needed to question their creator, his will for their being, or to judge his actions or words as philoxenus asserts how god is too great to be investigated by thought (section 2). The second metaphor focuses on the mindset necessary to be closer to god by comparing it to that possessed by children.
