Another thing that affects your life course is the size of your cohort (the labour market, easy of hard life ) More people born, life will be crowed and more competition/ if a lot of siblings then competition of who will have higher education and else parents have limited resources to offer. Entry level jobs- lots of competition and this will drive down starting wages. People holding back on kids the want to have children, but you can"t afford a child (they have aspirations of life style, and acceptable standard of living. Why would people aspire higher or lower/ people do a lot of comparison in comparing things, a variation in what people values (not always material prosperity), Canada largely a country of immigrant/ lifestyle considerably different, and have to start at the bottom to get to where they were, so they aspire to a higher level/
