Direct attention to certain aspects of experience and ownplay or ignore others. E. g. time as a commodity, illness as war, argument as war. Metaphors can reinforce people"s beliefs, as well as their understandings of reality. So time isn"t the same in all cultures, there are different ways of thinking about time. Deep messages about how life should unfold that we share as a society and that express our values. Not only the progress within human history but the progress we"ve achieved in our life.
