Aristotle - athens had a good form of government and during wartime it was in the hand of those who could serve to defend it. Democracy was a class system and an economically sectioned system. In economic life -> athens and the other main centres of greece hgad been disrupted by the war because the movement stopped the usual kind of trade. Around about 750 500 bce the greeks had spread themselves out from mainland greece and ionia establishing many colonies all over the place -> apotia (home away from home) Colonial areas did their own developments -> donut syndrome because something from the peripheral decayed the center. Huge increase in slaveries due to so many wars. After 400 bce a huge wave of mercenary soldiers -> war created a pool of patriot citizens for their city of state. War then became a way of raising money.
