Document Summary

What is animation: sequence of images creating illusion of movement when played in succession. Why use animation: easier to show somebody how something works, indicate movement, show change over time, show 3d, attract attention. How does it work: simulation of movement through series of pictures that have objects in slightly different positions, frame each drawing. Movement: created by quickly playing frames in succession. Sampling/quantizing on motion: since each frame is just an image . Each frame is sampled into discrete samples and each sample becomes a pixel sampling process. * with motion, can also sample frame rate. Each pixel assigned a colour quantization process: also sample the temporal dimensions of the video. Higher frame rate means more accurate motion is samples. (more pixels =) larger file size ( & better quality) Frame rate: indicated the playback speed of animation in fps.
