There are12 million new cases of cancer as of 2008, 7 million deaths, and 25 million people who were living with some type of diagnosis of cancer. After heart disease, cancer is the second leading cause of death. For those who are under 65, cancer is the main cause of disease related death. Once you reach 65, heart disease becomes the primary source of disease related death. Many people that were diagnosed w/ cancer in 2010 were able to live many years after their diagnosis. There was a five year survival rate for all cancers that were diagnosed /w 2002-2004 which is. Skin cancer is often not included because it is very common and often very curable (inflate and give a false picture of statistics) From 1991 onwards, there has been a decline in death rates. It is not declining as quickly as we"ve seen w/ heart-related deaths.
