Health Sciences 2300A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Standard Anatomical Position, Muscle Tissue, Body Cavity
Document Summary
The standard anatomical position is where one is standing erect, with palms and feet facing forward. Supine, which the person is laying on the back, with palms facing down (hands are not in anatomical position), with head turned to the side. Prone, where the person is laying on their stomach, with palms facing up (hands are not in anatomical position), with their head turned to the side [think of pubg, when you lay down, you are proning] Frontal plane, (aka coronal plane) which is where someone is split, so that they have a front and a back. The division can be done anywhere along a persons body. Midsagittal plane, is essentially where the body is divided into equal left and right halves. [a sagittal plane divides the body not into equal parts]. Transverse plane, is where the body is divided into a top and bottom. [transverse is another word for horizontal, which is how the body is being divided]
