Document Summary

Lab 3: analyzing the rugby pass and the volleyball spike: a. overhand spike in volleyball is open skill as the environment is unpredictable. For the player to spike the ball all depends on how the setter sets up the ball. The lateral rugby pass is also an open skill as it also occurs in an unpredictable environment. This is because the game is constantly changing through each play. The player must think about their teammates position, the position of defense and possibly weather. This jump allows the ball to go downwards over the net in the other court. The horizontal and vertical component will thus create a resultant which determines where the ball is landing on the other court. In rugby, the opo, is to pass the ball with a horizontal, velocity and spin while having maximum velocity. The ball will create a gyroscopic stability as it rotates around the axis of angular momentum.
