The notion is a historical and explanatory concept: it involves understanding obligations, legitimacy and illegitimacy. Monetization of pre-existing human characteristics (communication & collaboration) Exploitation in its marxian sense is based on 3 principles: (1) Digital free labour is bound up with the concept of alienation, in which workers are alienated both from the material results of their work and the profits. Digital labour offers the potential to recompose work and solve the problem of alienation. Industrial labour creates divisions between workers and the products of their work. Not in control of the output (where it goes, what it does) Do not fully reap the benefits of the exchange. It offers a modicum of control over the product of their creative activity in return for the work they do in building up an online community and sociality upon privately controlled network infrastructures. Now, workers are very connected to the process.
