Came up with the idea of client centered approach. For a person to grow they need to be in an environment of genuineness: openness to self disclosure, being open. In harmony with your patient: unconditional positive regard. Accept you as a valuable human being: empathy. Create an environment to optimize patients capabilities. Congruence self image is similar to ideal self: self actualize, more genuine and real, we want to be congruent, people accept you when you are genuine, clients wont need our help as much. Incongruent self image is different to ideal self: difficult to self actualize, defensiveness, work hard to develop self concept, struggling to find themselves, most difficult clients.
