Document Summary

Monopoly capitalism (late 1800s early 1900s) Work" was not seen as a separate sphere of life. Public sphere work; private sphere home (how we see it today) Activities were critical and necessary for survival. No value in surplus goods no accumulation of wealth. Essentially because there is no place to store; no ownership of land or property. Produced enough to survive and move on. Live in bands, made up of approximately 15-20 people depending on resources available. Skills that people possessed take care of animal, make fire, etc. More of an egalitarian society everyone does something that is equally contributing; no power struggle. Age young people tagged along the elders to gain work experience; older people lacked stamina and tend to stay at home. Better protection from famine, ability to store food. Gender - still see a coexistence in a relatively egalitarian society. More reason to have conflict between and within groups.
