Binary system of two sexes is deeply entrenched in western culture. Mixed individual whom possesses one testicle and one ovary. Would have testicles and some aspects of female genitalia but. An intersexed person who also has male and female organs. An intersexed person who has ovaries and the ability to have children but also have some aspects of male genitalia. She suggests that male and female genders are not enough, that there are more categories. These intersexed individuals are forced, or more accurately their parents are forced, to choose a gender to conform to when they are young. Where do we go from here? o or consent in such situations (choice is too important to rush) Stop treating such young children who have no means to understand. Must use science to rethink our binary sex system. Significant percent do follow our traditional system, but we must o acknowledge deviations and accept them as normal categorical options.
