There is an assumption of objectivity and neutrality in this approach the hawthorne effect: if you know you"re being watched it ends up impacting how we act. Qualitative research involves the close examination of characteristics that cannot be counted or are dif cult to measure. Quantitative research focuses on social elements that can be counted or measured and are used to generate statistics. Told participants they were administering high voltage shocks. The person being shocked and the authority gure were actors, the shocks were fake.
