Ex: your gender, etc: status hierarchy, status rankings from high to low, based on prestige and power, inequality stems, status consistency, all that status hierarchies line up. Ex: female, mother, housewife: status inconsistency, one status is highly ranked in one status category but not in others. Ex: women as doctors - in the past: hermaphrodites (now called intersexed, some of each sex chromosomes. Social roles: set of behaviours and attitudes, associated with a particular status, can vary across cultures.
