Examples: homosexuality - it"s a crime in some places, aborion - illegal in some places good. Deviance - occurs when someone departs from a norm and evokes a negaive reacion from others: homosexuality, aborion, etc. Crime - deviance that breaks a law: trespassing, stealing, murder, etc. Law - norm that is sipulated and enforced by government bodies: relecion of certain social norms (homosexuality is a law in some places and not in others based on social norms) Deviance and crime are beneicial for society: when someone breaks a rule, gives people the chance to condemn and punish, reminds people of their common values, clariies the moral boundaries, reinforces social solidarity. Can create condiions that push others toward crime (economy, etc. ) Marxist perspecive on criminology: casual mechanism - allowing capitalists and bourgeois to exploit and oppress the working class and the proletariat, capitalist market systems contribute to crime in diferent ways:
