Advertising reflects our culture, advertising also helps create culture (mutual relationship) Multi-national corporations are americanizing the global industry. Culture: language, communication, courtesies, rituals, roles, customs, relationships, practices, expected behaviors, values, thoughts, manners of interacting. Some people suggest there is no canadian culture since we are such a multi-cultural country, & people from many cultures come to canada to practice their culture & way of life. United states is more a melting pot -> people who live there assimilate into their culture. Canada is more of a mosaic than america -> more acceptable to come from another country and practice your own customs, practice your own religion, etc. Nevertheless, canada still has its own culture. We like our personal space (big personal space) Europe on the other hand, has less personal space between people. Wherever you are, you get accustomed to those practices. Same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Knowledge, language, values, customs & material objects (where advertising comes from)
