From 1999-2012, smoking prevalence has declined around all age groups. There have been significantly sharp declines among young people but have started to level off. The people who have been smoking for the longest time are more addicted to smoking and are less likely to quit in comparison to younger people. The education group that are most likely to smoke are those w/ less than secondary education and the least likely to smoke are the ones who"ve completed university. Trends changed to this prior to the 1960s the pattern was reversed. Canada"s federal government began national tobacco control initiatives in 1986. Some targeted young people, was through the health care system (family doctors), and hospitals. Smoke-free ontario goals for 2016: decreasing the number of youth trying tobacco.
