Social inequality = law & the operation of legal system - view it as a two-way relationship. In class def: practice of using crime scene evidence, looking at different fields of study psych, science, and sociologist to predict an offender"s personality, behavioral traits, and demographic characteristics: (gender, class, age). In order to create a profile of the type of offender who would likely have committed the crime, used to identify possible suspects based on who fits this type of profile. Considered an investigative tool that narrows down the pool of suspects, doesn"t solve the crime on its own. Specific areas of the brain were responsible for particular personalities. Got personal interest, from an investigative standpoint new york city mad bomber: a psychiatrist was brought in to construct a criminal profile on the suspect, considered an american terrorist. Dr. james russell (psych): bomber was injured at work and off on sick day.
