The strategic importance of employee selecion: selecion: the process of choosing among individuals who have been recruited to ill exising or projected job openings. Selecion begins when a pool of applicants has submited their resumes or completed applicaion forms as a result of the recruiing process. Successful candidates must it the strategic direcion of the organizaion. Firms must ensure that all their selecion procedures are free of both intenional and systemic discriminaion. Four designated groups: women, visible minoriies, persons with disabiliies, aboriginals. Supply challenges: selecion raio: the raio of the number of applicants hired to the total number of applicants. Small selecion raio means low quality recruits, beter to start the recruitment process over again. Large selecion raio job ad is too vague, automate a screening process. The selecion process: muliple-hurdle strategy: an approach to selecion involving a series of successive steps or hurdles.
