Informal sector: the part of the economy that is unregulated by the government while similar activities are regulated and taxed. When new migrants come to cities looking for a better life would be to have a formal sector job - where you have a contract, receive a wage, benefits, sick days. Urban opportunities are better than rural - new migrants/generations of people who live in slum areas lack basic services, but still have more opportunities in urban than in rural. Barriers and obstacles to informal sector in an attempt to grow the formal sector. abuse/rights are violated in any way (common for children and women in isolated places) are risks and dangers. Selling peanuts on the bus - not earning much. People who work for a company that might have 50 or more employees - recycling garbage (crucial for the city) provides a huge service.
