Social cognition: is what we use to interpret and understand social events, differs from other cognitive acts because of the social content. Social cognitive theory: learning theory, (ie like the bobo doll experiment/observational learning) ties into social cognition: observe what ppl do, we learn from others by watching what they do and don(cid:495)t do. Social cognitive processes important bc we live in groups. People provide us with info about ourselves. Social comparison theory (festinger, 1954: we like comparing ourselves to others, evaluate our abilities and beliefs by comparing them with those of others, upward or downward. Some say our notion of what is real physical reality is a construction of. Social psychology says physical reality is not quite physical, it is a social social knowledge construction of knowledge.
