Causal theories: media content affects well-being, beliefs, behaviour, (or no it doesn"t), different people are attracted to different media, media organizations simply providing what is desired, media reflects reality. Incidence of violence in media: 2/3 of all children"s shows contain violence, media violence has not just increased in quantity; it has also become much more graphic, much more sexual, and much more sadistic. What impact does this have: research methods, correlational studies, quasi-experiments, longitudinal studies, experimental studies. Correlational studies: significant correlations between amount of violent tv watched , fighting behaviour, conflict with parents, delinquency. Method & results: primary school children in all three communities observed during free play during one-minute intervals over 7 to 10 days, also had teachers & peers rate aggressiveness.
