The underlying assumption in the article by peter cohan is that, for a company to be successful it needs to come up with new, improved, and modernized corporate strategies to compete and prosper in todays markets. This is an underlying assumption because this fits into the gap between the claim and evidence. Bezos has reinvented corporate strategy to the benefit of amazon"s shareholders (cohan, 2017), and the evidence being amazon"s corporate strategy has yielded a company that keeps growing (cohan, 2017). Moreover, the underlying assumption in the article is a reality assumption, due to the fact that the assumptions are his belief from a real-world example, and how things work in the world. Cohan"s article, the reason for ge"s failure was ge made decisions using an outmoded model of corporate strategy while amazon invented a new one (cohan, 2017).
