ENVS 1200 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Bioswale, Water Pollution, Downspout
Document Summary
Humans must take precaution and live with this cycle. Advantages of engineered water cycle: provides land for development, provides efficient and predictable disposal of storm water, provides relatively easy engineered solutions to storm water management, solutions that can be applied anywhere. Disadvantages of engineered water cycle: can"t accommodate the larger and more frequent rainfalls, very costly to replace, water pollution, sedimentation of water courses and bodies, changed watersheds into sewer sheds, shields us from alternatives. Downspout disconnection, rain barrels, green roofs and roof gardens, tree planting, previous driveways, bioswales.
