A monthly newsreel produced by time, inc. Pearl harbor attacked by the japanese navy on december 7, 1941. Job was to assist the media to spread the message about supporting the war. Bureau of motion pictures (bmp) - tried to influence hollywood to make films to support the war effort and to make films that portrayed the us in a positive light. Created a manual for film makers with questions such as will this picture help win this war? as guidelines for film makers to make a more effective movie. All the companies started making war goods, no cars/refrigerators etc. People that stayed back home would collect old metals and give to companies so they can make new products. There were no consumer goods, no money. This was good for the government because they got the citizens to not think about the war for a few hours and so they can get them to help them with the war.
