44 views11 pages

Document Summary

There"s a limit to glycogen because there"s a 1:3 ratio for glycogen stored and water stored. Only at 70-80% of vo2 max you will have glycogen depletion if you are exercising for 90 minutes. ^this makes your body to start storing more glycogen. For day 1-4 you do a lot of exercise and eat a little bit of carbs and then from 4-7 days you do no exercise and eat a lot of carbs. So the event should last longer than 90 minutes in order to gain from the benefits of the carb loading. If you weren"t carb loaded you use the fat but if you are carb loaded you are using glycogen. As exercise continues the glycogen depletes but blood sugar starts to deplete as well like at 3 hours but if you continue to take carbs during the exercise you can maintain the blood sugar.
