Keep in mind that an important issue for overall is autonomy. There is a cost: both the mortal and the immortal human being have a comparable vulnerability to sudden death . This would affect lifestyle: they would live in a way to circumvent most serious risks and would avoid being reckless , this is because, for mortals and immortals, in losing our lives we lose everything . They certainly would not say got to die sometime as justification for their risky behaviour, and so they might avoid risky behaviour, unlike many mortals: what about the thrill? o. Here the issue is the age at which one chooses to be an immortal. Elina makropulos started taking the elixir at age 42, and remained at that age for the next. So maybe, she adds, we could have the immortality drug/therapy restore one to one"s physical prime: not biologically possible, btw, unless it could re-grow telomeres.
