Involves the process of reasoning to make decisions and how to decide on real life moral controversies. Moral reasoning: making a claim and backing it up with reasons, applying moral principles: there are many different types of reasons: Morals, aesthetic, and practical: these reasons may conflict with one another. A single reason may outweigh all the others, such as moral reasons that should outweigh others. Often take the place of moral rules and principles: very much about considering different conflicting positions on an issue, to understand the various pros and cons of each side. Moral rules: can be learned from our teachers, religion, parents, etc: come from the social norms o. Difficulties in applying moral principles: ex; you find a wallet, 1) conceptual problems - often at the centre of ethical debates. We found the wallet, so we"re not really stealing it.
