Document Summary
Insight- refers to aha you got it- monkeys demonstrated insight. Information-processing model of memory- developed around the same time as when the computer was invented: input= encoding, processing= storage, output=retrieval. Connectionism- whenever we encounter certain information, the connection are formed, and everything becomes more and more interconnected. Developed 1968: memory system consists of different storehouses: three processing stages in the atkinson-shiffrin model. Sensory: we first record to-be-remembered information as a fleeting sensory memory- preserves into its original sensory form for a brief time. )f you don"t pay attention it will decays- it fades away. Short term memory: from there, we process information into short-term memory, where we encode it through rehearsal, refer to as working memory- it contains information that you are consciously aware of, can hold information for about 15-20 seconds. It has a limited capacity and can hold 7+ and items of info at a given time (memory span) how much info can we hold.
