Result: the little boy psychologically experiences this super overwhelming intense castration anxiety, that it is so strong. Possess mom vicariously - getting some pleasure. Allows the boy to eliminate the overwhelming castarious anxiety. Allows the boy to assimilate so called appropriate sex role behaviour. All females are fixated at the phallic stage. Resolution: single most critical aspect of personality development: the normal development of an adult requires a resolution on this stage. Massive repression of sexual, oral and anal impulses. Rechanneling to activities such as school, cognitive development, friendships, sports, hobbies etc. Erogenous zone: genitals (hetrosexual rather than autoerotic activity) Decreased emphasis on importance of sexual instinct. Fulfillment model teleological position current behaviour is directed by future goals. Motivation is the striving towards the fulfillment: fictional finalism ideas that guide behaviour.
