Science fiction authors and legal scholars have addressed the complicated issue of personhood of artificially intelligent things. Science fiction authors have created a groundwork to consider these things. Legal scholars have researched and argued about the advancements of artificial intelligence technology as well. Personhood for robots might be hard to find for many reasons. Some of these reasons include that robots aren"t humans and miss things like souls, consciousness, and intentionality. This being said, people argue they should never be more than the property of those who made them. Manmade entities should, if it"s autonomous, have a prima facie right to personhood. This means it should be accorded a legally self-owning status of an autonomous person unless there"s a reason you can deny personhood in this situation. Answers to this depends on how robots might be treated as people in regards to the law.
