Hbo first cable company to establish regular satellite transmission, 1975. 1962- fcc intervened because local cable services started importing cable content from networks. 1965- fcc ruled a cable company must carry on its box all local stations. Cable tv operators have to get a certificate of compliance from the fcc prior to operating a cable tv station. Cable companies had to include a public access channel (info about government, etc. ) Had to file annual reports about general statistics. But many of these were modified or eliminated in the next decade. Promoted competition and deregulated cable tv industry. 3 over the air stations or signals are available to viewing area.
